1922 - Bentley Motors was founded on the 18th of January 1919 by the British motoring enthusiast Walter Owen Bentley. W.O. started the company making the Bentley 3 Litre model which went on to win the famous car race 24 hours of Le Mans in 1924.

1925 - The wealthy racing driver Woolf Barnato gave the company much needed finance which gave the financier ownership of much of the company.

1926 - Bentley released the 4½-litre also called the "Blower Bentley" model vehicle.

1931 - British luxury car maker Rolls-Royce bought Bentley Motors.

1998 - The German car company Volkswagen purchased the Bentley company from the now defunct Vickers plc which owned Bentley and Rolls-Royce (RR was also a part of the sale.)

2006 - Bentley produces a a convertible called the Azure. Convertible versions of the Continental GTC and the Continental GT were also released.
