Ferrari is an Italian car brand that was founded by the Italian car racing driver Enzo Ferrari. Ferrari manufacture luxury and high performance sports cars in Italy. They’re best know for their supercars and car racing history. Ferrari is the car company that has the prancing horse as their logo.

The Ferrari logo of the prancing horse on a yellow background suggests speed and power. The green white and red stripes of the Ferrari badge are from the Italian flag. It is said that Enzo Ferrari used the prancing horse after Count Francesco Baracca, who was a famous fighter pilot from the Italian Air Force that was shot down and killed after a very successful career. Baracca would have the prancing horse painted on the sides of his plane for good luck.

Prancing Horse of Ferrari
Below is an image of the Baracca family Coat of Arms showing the prancing horse that Enzo Ferrari would use as inspiration for the Ferrari symbol. Francesco Baracca used the prancing horse or “Cavallino Rampante” in Italian on the side of his SPAD S.XIII fighter plane during World War I.
Enzo Ferrari was racing at the time when he met the parents of the World War 1 pilot who told him that Francesco would use the prancing horse for good luck while flying. Scuderia Ferrari soon started to use the horse on a yellow background which referenced the yellow used in the flag of his hometown Modena in Italy.
